KEVIN VUONG
Conductor-Educator
Hey hi hello!
I'm Kevin, and welcome to my site! I am a Toronto-based music educator, clarinetist, conductor, music director and researcher. Currently, I am a Master of Teaching candidate at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (UofT), specializing in Intermediate/Senior Instrumental Music and History as part of the MT-UTS cohort. In my spare time, you can find me geeking out about all things watches, tackling my never-ending reading list or dreaming about my next travel destination! (Hint: Take me back to Paris!)
As a freelance conductor-educator, I have found myself frequently on the concert stage, in a studio, in the pit, and in the classroom. I strive to bring an infectious passion for music-making and bringing people together, no matter where or who I am working with. I am also committed to challenging the systems and structures in which we work and create, in hopes of fostering a space where my students and musicians can find and become themselves.
On this site, you will also find a e-portfolio containing digital samples of recent work, as well as a Teaching & Learning blog. On this blog, I will share observations and reflections from my experiences as a teacher candidate, a researcher and as a freelance conductor-educator, in hopes of continually informing my practice moving forward.
Oh, and maybe some thoughts about Sweeney Todd - I adore that show. Thanks for popping by!
